Center Harbor Real Estate

Center Harbor is located in Belknap County, and is part of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.  It is situated between Squam Lake and Lake Winnipesauke, and includes several miles of shoreline.

Center Harbor’s is a popular summer resort, and its main industry is tourism.  It is also the winter home of the M/S Mount Washington Cruise Ship.  The town offers many outdoor recreational opportunities including hiking and walking trails.

Center Harbor was given its name from two sources; the Senter family, who owned a large amount of property in the area, and its central location between the Meredith and Moultonborough Harbors.  The town was the home of Dudley Leavitt, who was the author of the first Farmer’s Almanac back in 1797.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Center Harbor was home to 996 residents.  This included 414 households and 293 families.  The average family size was 2.75 and the average household size was 2.38.  Center Harbor is comprised of 13.4 square miles of land and 3.1 square miles of water.  

Center Harbor Real Estate and Homes:  In 2000, there were 658 homes and an average of 49 homes (houses / condos) per square mile.  In 2007, it was estimated that real estate in Center Harbor, New Hampshire was comprised of a total of 736 homes.  This included 674 single family homes and 15 multi-unit homes.  15% of homes in Center Harbor are occupied by renters.
